Connecticut Green Bank, with participating lenders, is offering a special 1.99% rate through December 31, 2026

HARTFORD, Conn. (September 15, 2026) – In the coming weeks, as the temperatures start to cool off for the fall and winter months, you may be interested in revisiting heating and cooling options for your home. The Connecticut Green Bank, in partnership with Energize CT, participating HVAC contractors and local banks and credit unions, is offering a limited-time reduced interest rate on its Smart-E loan program for residential heat pump technologies, which includes air source heat pumps, ducted or ductless mini splits, geothermal heat pumps, and heat pump water heaters.

Homeowners can take advantage of a 1.99% rate on loans of up to $25,000 for loan terms of 5 years with no prepayment penalties. To receive the special rates, homeowners must be Eversource or Avangrid electricity customers and the project must have been approved for an Energize CT heat pump rebate.

“The Heat Pump Special Offer has been a boon to my business.  Smart-E is the first-line financing we offer to customers,” said Matt Burruano, owner of Ideal Mechanical Services LLC in Tolland. “Because of this promotion, my company more than doubled the number of Smart-E jobs over the past year.  In fact, many customers asked specifically for the Special Offer.  We find that the biggest impediment to heat pump installation is the cost, and the Smart-E promotion allowed my customers to finance the work at a very low interest rate.”

The previous heat pump special offer, which ran from September 2025 through July 31, 2026, resulted in over $8 million in financing across more than 350 loans.

In addition to cooling and heating projects, the Smart-E loan can be used to finance more than 90 different home improvements related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resilience. This includes solar, insulation, windows, wells, septic, and health and safety upgrades. In total, more than 10,000 homeowners have already used Smart-E loans to reduce energy costs, improve energy efficiency, and increase home comfort and resilience.
